Unable to update Windows Server 2000?
Have you got a legacy Windows Advanced Server 2000 crashed and is mandatory to reinstall?
How shall we update this server from windows update site?
Don't panic! Check out these steps:
- Upgrade internet explorer to IE6 - Download and execute the full installer. It's available at www.oldapps.com
- Check service pack installed - If necessary, download and install SP4 at www.microsoft.com
- Upgrade Update Agent to v 3.0 - Link
- Download and install update rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4 (KB891861) Link
- Update Root Certificate - Certificates stored in the server are deprecated, so is necessary to install the new ones. The more current founded was December 2012, also valid for Windows XP Link . To download root certificate update, validation is required so Windows Server 2000 or Windows XP must be genuine.
- Launch Windows Update If everything is OK, we'll find new updates. These are BITS 2.0 and Windows Installer 3.1. These updates requires system restart. Once the system becomes newly available, check for updates once again and enjoy!
